Abstract

This article explores the crisis of legitimacy that strikes Colombia between 1826 and 1831. The dictatorship of Simón Bolívar (1828) and Rafael Urdaneta (1830), the incapacity of the two constituent assemblies to give way to a Constitution and the ultimate dissolution of the Republic giving birth to Venezuela, Nueva Granada and Ecuador express the difficulty to provide adequate solutions to the challenges that define modern politics in the context of the dominant political culture.
