Abstract

This is a study of the connections between the music of Villa-Lobos and the different cultural discourses of the Brazilian elites. The consumption of music in various historical moments, the relations between listening public and artistic creation are analyzed with the intention of pointing out the ties between music/composer; musician/macenas; musician/State and discourses and political projects.
