Abstract

The present article discusses the way which the Uruguayan historiography considers, from a theoretical and methodological perspective, some phenomena related to memory. For that purpose, this article focuses on some basic aspects: the distinction between memory and historical knowledge, the critical use of personal memory as source for the study of the past, and the relationship among historiographical speech, memory and identities.
