Abstract

Americanist pre-historians have manifested a variety of opinions regarding the arrival of early man in the Americas. The most conservative do not accept the appearance of early man before 20.000 years ago, while others admit to a dating of 200.000-300.000 years. This article summarizes and compares the known data regarding the chronology of early man in the Americas with data relative to the Brazilian Northeast.
