Abstract

This work presents the analysis of ceramics remains of Morro Azul Caves archaeological site, located in Ventania County, Paraná State, Brazil. Nowadays the site represents the biggest assemblage of rock art kown in Paraná State. The support rock are sandstones and diamictites of Itararé geological group. It was identified in the preliminary prospections, at least, three occupation levels: the oldest, of hunters and gatherers related to Umbu Tradition, and two later of ceramists of Itararé/ Casa de Pedra Regional Tradition. The archaeological pottery vessels, graphically reconstructed, were classified throughout their shape and possible function.
