This article draws a parallel between the question of interpretation of the material sources and that of the writtten ones, from an analysis of Livy’s “Roman History” to demonstrate that the latter ones, though seemingly less problematic and more immediate, give rise to interpretation problems due to their manipulation and distortion.Downloads
