The paper presents a method for interpreting objects of the ethnographic collection of the Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia of the University of São Paulo. Using the structural analysis of myths and rituals the symbolic significance of two objects (artifacts) from the indian reservation of the Upper Rio Xingu, Mato Grosso, is explained.Downloads
