Abstract

A synthesis of regional pre-history must be established starting from archaeological information organized in a space-time framework. Not only the data obtained from the analysis of material traces present at the sites should receive attention, but also equally the moments of transition of the paleo-sceneries and cultures should be reconstituted. Patterns of subsistence, exploration of sources of raw material, the typology of artifacts, the art symbols, the adaptive processes, integration and conflict, are some of the diverse aspects to be studied, from models which admit multiple variables and a manifold causality. The necessary conceptual rigor and superation of simplistic interpretations not withstanding, inumerous problems of theoretical-methodological character will still be difficult to solve, as this study makes clear.
