A visit to the Indians of the Trombetas River

As one of the products of an ethnographic mapping carried out along the Trombetas and tributaries river, in this 1957 text, Polykrates deals with some aspects of the life and culture of the people Katxuyana, at the time identified as Kashuiéna, and self-nominated Uarikiana. In addition to addressing the way of life and material culture of the people visited, Polykrates describes the Kurínguri festival, which he can witness during his visit to one of their villages on the Cachorro river. In this travel account the following peoples are also mentioned as inhabitants of the Trombetas River and neighborhoods: Kahiána (or Kahianá), Tunajéna, Pianacotó.
