Resumen

The paper presents a geologic-evolutionary approach to the shell mound along the coastal plain of Joinville, whose results indicate a possible route for the displacement of the shell mound builders between the Paraná southern coast and the Santa Catarina northern coast. The paleogeographic model proposed and the absolute dating of the shell mounds currently available converge on the Palmital Channel as the region where the occupation of Joinville by those fishers-gatherers first started.
