The aim of this paper is to discuss the role of New Archeology in the theoretical and methodological evolution of archeology, and particularly its contribution to the recent developments of classical archaeology. It considers also the situation of classical archaeology in the present days, when New Archaeology is critically revised and various post-modern approaches of archaeological questions are flourishing.
