Abstract

Abstract: The meritocracy is a social established in the dominant positions as consequence of is holding the necessary and socially legitimate knowledge and talent. The acquisition of scare competence which is aimed in the diplomas and acquired in the scholar system contest is the strategy for remaining in power and in hierarchily privileged positions of the dominant class. The utilitarian rationalism and the valorization of both progress and non-waste of human resources contribute to the hegemonic metritocratic project which is disguised by the pseudo-equality of formal education possibilities. Young's fable, The Rise of the Meritocracy, 1870-2033: An Essay on Education and Equality, is a view of what this meritocratic "brave new world" would be.
