O ensino da sociologia na escola secundária brasileira: levantamento preliminar

Abstract

The origin of this article was a survey that I made in 1984 to course of Practice of Teaching of Social Sciences of the teacher Heloísa Dupas Penteado. I retook this survey in the same year to the course of Sociology of Education of the teacher Marília P. Spósito. In 1986, I retook it again then, concluded it. - To contribute to a present debate about Sociology teaching in High School, the survey verified in the discipline Sociology or Social Sciences consisted of Brazilian High School Curriculum and got data about the pedagogical work realized. The results showed by the preliminary survey about the discipline trajectory in Brazilian High School is, in short, the following: 1882: parliamentary proposal of inclusion (it was not discussed); 1890-1897: legally and obligatory discipline (the legislation was not put in practice); 1925-1942: obligatory discipline; 1961-1971: in some states, it was an optative discipline; 1971-1982: at least in the State of São Paulo, it was an optative discipline; 1982: from 1984 to 1986, about 10 to 29% of High Schools in the State of São Paulo included the discipline in this grade of school.
