Abstract

The topic of this study was discussed by 45 professors at the I N-NE Regional Meeting on Pedagogy Applied to University Instruction in Fortaleza (Ceará), September 1987. In the introduction it is shown that courses on methodology for university teaching were organized in the beginning as an answer to a need felt in the last decades and later as answer to a legal requirement. The main part of the article presents an identification, characterization and discussion of four great lines or tendencies in the organization of these from the legal, technical, philosophical and multidimentional points of view. As conclusion a proposal is presented for the organization of methodology for university teaching which, tested by several experts in education has so far best responded to our expectations as educators and the expectation of the university teachers envolved.
