Abstract

We want in this paper to analyses the portuguese illuminist thought, particularly in the aspects which refer to education with the goal of identifying the influence of these theoreticians in the frame of the reforms made in the education system by the Marquês de Pombal. Thus, we want, specially arising from the thought of Verney and Ribeiro Sanches, to recognize in what extent the theme of the democratization of the school were and purpose of these Portuguese illuminism.
