Abstract

The evolution, during these last twenty years, of the World Bank cooperation with the Brazilian education sector shows that it has extended its actions from technical and financial support to an ever more political role, preparing country and sector policies which have impacted on the decision-making process in the nations requesting the Banks financial support. What stands out in political documents is their ideological and conceptual basis set within systemic and "realistic" parameters which have restricting and restraining effects on the walfare policies of the candidate nations. This study seeks to identify the reality of internacional projects, allowing the decision-making process to take into account actual results obtained in Brazil.
