The authors present a case of mastitis in an eight years old, black and white Holandish cow, imported from Canada and presenting high production. Antecedents were: traumatism at the mammary gland level, with increase in volume and mamitis of the right hind quarters .After treatment with oxaciline for five (5) days, there was an exacerbation of the symptoms. Diagnosis was established by cultivation of material from the quarters, confirming mamitis caused by yeast of the genus Candida. Partial results from the biochemical data suggest the presence of Candida luzitanae.
