Behavior and Sources of Information for Tourists: an analysis of the participants of the Latin American Poker Tour 2013 (Viña Del Mar, Chile)

Seeking to contribute to the understanding of behavioral characteristics and the sources of information used by tourists of events, this paper investigated the correlation between the constructs. The study subjects were 1,024 participants in the Latin American Poker Tour 2013 in Viña del Mar (Chile). The method was quantitative, through a survey of a sample of 60 participants who completed self-administered questionnaires during the three days of the event. This procedure was necessary to determine the sources of information used by the players in the tournament and describe the behavioral characteristics of online poker players. Correlating the sources of information used to behavioral characteristics, the present study demonstrated the importance of seeking external information through specialized and personal sources. The results allowed also develop a model for the relationship between the two constructs studied using structural equation modeling.
