This article presents part of the poetic production written for children by Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893–1930) during the consolidation of Russian-Soviet children’s literature (1920s). After the events of 1917, education and children’s literature became two pillars for the “construction” of a new country and a “new man”. With public investment, many avant-garde poets and painters, for survival or ideological reasons, turned to the children’s universe and worked, for some time, with relative freedom. This was the context in which Mayakovsky wrote poems for young readers.
