Abstract

The general aim of this article is to talk about the notion of post-colonial. Specifically we will talk about the notion of post-colonial in Stuart Hall and Ella Shohat. Stuart Hall, in his interrogative text “when was the post-colonial? Thinking on the limit” dialogues directly with Ella Shohat, a point which makes the two texts to be complementary. The term postcolonial brings a lot of theoretical ambiguities of space and time and on the other hand a political ambiguity. Chronologically, when really starts the post-colonial period? In terms of space, which is the privileged country where post-colonial started? These are questions summoned up by the authors. Methodologically we made a cut which does a triade. So, we will talk about the notions of Post-colonial from Hall and Shohat text in connection with Things Fall Apart of Chinua Achebe.
