Abstract

Taking under consideration the novels A sul. O sombreiro, the angolan writer Pepetela, and O outro pé da sereia, the mozambican writer Mia Couto, this text focuses on the reading and the use of historical documentation by these authors to build their fictional texts. Is analyzed here the ironic and questioning gesture (eminently post-colonial) taking writings of the past (especially of a colonial past) and reread, exploring its possible interpretations, thereby demonstrating its textual construct character inserted in a given temporality and a given order of power relations.
