The main objective of this article is to analyze the actions of João Fernandes Vieira as governor of the captaincy of Angola, from 1658 to 1661. And how his management was related to his interests in the sugar production and trafficking of slaves in the captaincies of Pernambuco and Paraíba. Through a classic historiography of manuscripts from the Overseas Historical Archive of the documentation published by Father Antonio Brásio at the African Missionary Monument, the aim is to analyze the conflicts and negotiations that took place in that context, the power games and how they influenced the interests of Lusitanians In the second half of the 17th century.Downloads
