In using works by authors David Birmingham, Joseph Miller and Selma Pantoja that deal with the Kingdom of Ndongo during the 17th century, we will investigate the consequences of the Portuguese presence in this region. We will identify the authors’ perspectives of the Mbundu people’s reactions to the demands generated by contact with the Portuguese - who sought to settle into their territory. We also investigate the data that these authors convey about the transformations experienced by the region in the covered period.Downloads
