Movimentos na História: Notas sobre a Historiografia da Costa dos Escravos

Abstract

I discuss some aspects of the historiography produced on the ancient kingdom of Dahomey, now Benin, at the turn of the twentieth to the twenty-first century. Emphasize three aspects of production that are interrelated: the sources and methodologies for the study of the Slave Coast, the kingdom of Dahomey in the inset of slavery and the dynamics of ethnicities. I argue that these discussions lead to contributions to theory and methodologically significant to the historiography.
