En este ensayo se introducen nociones clave sobre el “giro móvil” para comprender y definir la experiencia de la movilidad urbana, a partir de una crítica a los estudios urbanos y de transporte, así como a las ciencias sociales en general, y en América Latina en general. particular. Se propone que las ciudades son espacios de circulación, destacando la importancia que ésta tiene en la producción del espacio urbano. Aunque la tradición de la teoría social moderna ha sostenido la idea de que los espacios de tránsito son no lugares, moverse por la ciudad es una forma de vivir y toda movilidad es una práctica social significativa. Finalmente, se caracteriza la experiencia de la movilidad urbana a través de ejemplos concretos, como la automovilidad.
