Beyond legal texts: Olivier-Simon Le Bon’s will (Goa, 1780)

The aim of this article is to demonstrate that legal documentation can be as useful as literary texts to a better understanding of the history of Goa. The analysis of bishop Olivier-Simon Le Bon’s will can shed light his stay in the capital of the former State of India and reflects the consequences of the conflict between the Portuguese Padroado and the Propaganda Fide.
