Abstract

In Preço de noiva (2020), we have as a background the trajectory of Aku-nna being forced to move from the capital of Nigeria to a rural region. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze how the character's displacement puts her in constant cultural impacts, leading her to confronting patriarchy in both traditional and colonial spheres. Under a bibliographical review, the theoretical framework is formed by theorists such as: Homi Bhabha (1998), Patricia Hill Collins (2000), Edward Said (2011) and Édouard Glissant (2013). It appears that the work illustrates the various forms of violence to which women are subjected and how they seek for confrontation and resistance strategies.

  • Jéssica França de Oliveira, Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora

    PhD student in Literary Studies at the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora. Master in Literary Theory and Cultural Criticism (Literature and Cultural Memory) by the Universidade Federal de São João del Rei, where she served as a CAPES scholarship holder. Graduation in Liberal Arts - Portuguese / Literatures / English from the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (2014). Worked as a fellow in the Scientific Initiation project at UFRRJ (PROIC), under the theme "Leitura e espelhamento: analisando o processo de alfabetização", from 11/12 to 12/07. Subsequently, she participated as a scholarship holder in the teaching initiation program at UFRRJ (PIBID), under the theme "Gêneros midiáticos como recontextualização da realidade: perspectiva sociocultural das práticas discursivas de sentido", in the period from 12/8 to 12/13. Her research is focused on the following themes: English Language Literature, Orientalism, Displacements, Diasporas, Decolonial Literatures. She works as a public teacher at the Public School System, teaching English language classes for the second segment of Elementary II. Also has a profile of literary reviews, @versoecontroversia.

    Possui Graduação em Letras pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (1974), Graduação em Lingüística pela Université de Toulouse II (Le Mirail) (França, 1977), Mestrado em Linguistica pela Université de Toulouse II (Le Mirail) ( França, 1977), Doutorado em Letras - Estudos Comparados de Literaturas de Lingua Portuguesa pela Universidade de São Paulo (2001) e Pós-Doutorado em Estudos Literários pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2013). Atualmente é professora associada IV na Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora / MG. Tem experiência na área de Letras, com ênfase em Literatura Comparada, atuando principalmente nas seguintes linhas de pesquisa: traduçao do francês para o português, identidade cultural, literaturas africanas de língua portuguesa, literaturas das diásporas das Antilhas de língua francesa e do Brasil, ensino da língua e literatura francesa.
