Not entirely without reason, António Botto’s My Manifesto to Everybody has always been taken for a minor piece in the controversy over the “literature of Sodom”. However, in it can be detected, in a synthetic form, all the elements of a meta-discourse about his own work, which he wielded instead of taking any self-defensive ethico-political attitude against the pervasive homofobia that targeted him. The agency that Botto earned himself back against the vital extorsion that targeted him, is announced in My Manifesto to Everybody and it’s in his poetic corpus that it will be enacted.
