This paper aims to present some aspects of Maria-Mercè Marçal’s poetics and essayist writing to approach the accounts and translation of her poems dedicated to lesbian relationships, poems taken from the book Desglaç (2017[1989]). Considering her significance as a Catalan poet and also for the quality of her literature, we seek to show briefly some of the dimensions of her reflections and verses about the theme, resorting to her own writings (2004) and those of Llüisa Julià (2001) to do so. With those readings and others, the four hands translation done by scholars, one of them Catalan and the other Brazilian, had within this practice a gesture that could be prolific to present an author who made visible the lesbian sexuality through a complex poetic oeuvre, as well as to relate some of the translation criteria, taking into account her dialogue with the literary tradition and the peculiarities of Catalan in its relation to Portuguese.Downloads
