Abstract

The treatment accorded to the historical trajectory of African societies in school textbooks used between 5th and 8th grades of elementary school is the main theme of this article. The cut-off time for observation is elected to the approach of the period which extends from the seventh century to the eighteenth. Despite the advances identified in some collections, the general framework for the analysis indicates that there are some inaccuracies in the focus of the issue.
