Abstract

Abstract: Close to the second decade of the 21st century, Spanish women in music walk on paths that, mainly, were opened by women composers committed to equality and to the conquest of professional music spaces. In this sense, the work of composers, performers, researchers, teachers, managers and several organizations has been intense and without any pause. The visibility of the work done by all of them is a necessary exercise of knowledge and recognition that should give impetus to the new generations that are involved in the world of Music. It is necessary to recognize this legacy in order to allow us to reflect on their contribution and projection in our present. Creating associations has been one of the most important strengths of the women's movement to vindicate and to conquer rights, equality, visibility and promotion of women composers. Since the foundation of the "Asociación de Mujeres en la Música" in 1989 by the composer María Luisa Ozaita (1939-2017), several associations and other civil partnerships, such as foundations, have emerged in Spanish, and this fact contributes to the consolidation of spaces and presences of women in music.
