Abstract

This article is my own interpretation of the life and output for piano of the Brazilian composer Eunice Katunda (1914-1990), according to both social and composer’s context. Despite the so debated women composer questions, I don’t intent to offer any conclusion about a “feminine way” of composing. I observe a concern to approach gender issues in all analyses, along with an investigation about social difficulties that have  had some influence upon her.
